Romantic Movies to Watch at Home

Cuddling with my husband on a Tuesday night on our Love Date Nights is one of the sweetest moments of my week.

As what I mentioned here in my blog, every week we have something to do- either we go out and do something or stay at home and do something together - either way - as long as it's just the two of us.

Some nights we would watch movies after dinner.  We will have the couch ready for the movie.  Have blankets and pillows ready.

Some of the romantic movies we watched already at home and we definitely recommend these to you are as follows:

  1. Fireproof (Best marriage/relationship movie)
  2. Facing the Giants (not about romance but inspiring movie)
  3. Sleepless  in Seattle (Ryan and Hanks)
  4. The Notebook
  5. Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita (Filipino movies)
  6. Labs Kita Okay Ka Lang (Filipino movies)
  7. A Walk To Remember
  8. My Sassy Girl (Korean version is way better though) (The English version is good too)

I forgot the titles of most of the movies we watched already but I'll update them when I get the chance.  Okay?   So rent a movie now.. or better yet.. sign up on http://www.icefilms.info/index for free movies and/or http://www.noypi-unlimited.com for free Filipino telenovela and/ or Filipino and Foreign Movies.

We watched also comedy movies but I guess that would be a different topic then.  lol.

Romantic Insights - What Really Matters are The Important Things In Your Life

You may wonder why I shared the insight below.. because this is not one of the romantic ideas I usually share.. but this one.. is much more.. way better.. it's an article from a friend.. a story about the important things that really matters in our life.. so here you go..

The Mayonnaise Jar
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle,
When 24 hours in a day is not enough;
remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and start to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again
if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand
and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table
and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - Family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost
and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --
The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
to clean the house and fix the dripping tap.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand
and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.

'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Please share this with other "Golf Balls"

I just did......

So what are you waiting for? Share this to your partner.. to a friend.. to anybody.. through emailing this post or copying them and emailing it yourself.. you may be changing ones life from then on.

Have an amazing journey!

Melrose Cafe and Bar. Great Pub in Calgary

Yup.  Why not go to a bar with your spouse.  I would still consider it romantic as long as it's just the two of you.  Dinner for two.  Not with friends I agree.  You can do that during other times but not on your date nights.

We went to Melrose Cafe & Bar in 17 Avenue Calgary, AB during the Olympics game Hockey Games February 2010.   It was fun;)

We are actually on a health transformational challenge and we usually eat healthy food except Sunday as our Free Day based on Body for Life Concepts.  So here on a Tuesday Love nights, we ordered green tea instead of beers and salads for both of us.  LOL.

But take note, we went again to Melrose Cafe Calgary on the following Sunday so we can eat chicken wings and pizza.  Yup.  We love our Day Offs.

So even if you're busy with stuffs, bring your spouse to a Pub, especially Melrose Cafe & Bar.

It's fun and exciting watching games with your spouse.

Jubilations Dinner Theatre Calgary - Romantic Time with My Spouse

In our 1st month of our marriage (August 2009), Dave and I committed in having a one-night-lovedate-a-week despite of the busy schedule the world demands for us.    And we always look forward to this day of the week.  Usually we make Tuesday our Love Nights every week but for this instance, we made a legal excuse to have it on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 because the Dinner and Show at Jubilations Calgary Dinner Theatre only have showings from Wednesday to Sunday.   From Wednesday to Saturday, the seating times are from 6:30pm-6:50pm and Sunday is 5:00pm-5:20pm.

It was our first experience in watching a Dinner and Show event and we were very impressed.  The casts as well as the staffs and/or waitresses are wearing their customes and were very soaked on their characters.  They spoke and acted like the real characters and we love them.  The place itself, Jubilations Calgary, had a great setting - great paintings and environment.

The Dinner Theatre we went to last March 10, 2010 was Luck Be A Lady (Showings from February 12, 2010-April 11, 2010).  The setting was in Copa, most likely a Vegas-setting.  We found the story or the plot to be funny and entertaining.  The food were excellent.  The choices were great.  When I checked the reviews or comments about Jubilations Calgary Dinner Theatre, they were mostly pleased with the performance.  So we went and yes, we didn't expect it to be this much fun and great.

We started with starters, Dino's Italian Tomato Soup - a thick tomato basil soup flavoured with oregano, garlic and vine-ripened tomatoes, and their delicious Summit Salad which is a blend of fresh romaine and iceberg lettuce topped with house-made bruschetta and balsamic vinaigrette.  We ordered their best PinaColada drinks.  After our starters, the show began.  The room's light died and all eyes were fixed on the stage.

After the 1st part, the entrees were served.  I chose their Fremont Chicken, a chicken breast smothered in a succulent tarragon cream sauce served with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables and Dave loved their Ring-a-Ding Rib, a slow roasted to medium Alberta Prime Rib with mouth-watering au jus served with roasted potatpes and seasonal vegetables as well.  They're both excellent.

The 2nd part comes after the main courses.  It was a very lovely evening.  Before the ending, they served us desserts.  We tasted both the Sin City Chocolate Cake and Mobster Mousse Cake.  You may wonder how they tasted, and yes, they're delightful.  The Sin City Chocolate Cake has a silky smooth chocolate cream icing that's layered between its three moist layers of rich chocolate cake and the Mobster Mousse Cake is a triple berry cake that's layered with luscious yogurt mousse that's been whipped with sweet cranberry and raspberry juices, and then glazed with a blend of strawberries, blueberries and cranberries.  Yup, very yummy.

Our Dinner and Show experience in Jubilations Calgary Theatre Ltd. is an awesome time with my husband.  I would considered a romantic one when you have the table all by yourself and your spouse.  Since there is an option of sharing the table with other 2 more people, go with the table just for two.  You will enjoy more and savor more of each other's presence.  I love our time together.  And this experience has added in our time capsule on our 1st year of marriage.

The Jubilations Dinner Show Schedule for 2010 after the Luck Be A Lady will be as follows:
  • April 16, 2010 - June 20, 2010 - Good Vibrations: Summer of '68
  • June 15, 2010 - August 29, 2010 - Law and Order: Canadian Files
  • September 3, 2010 - November 7, 2010 - Greased
  • November 12, 2010 - February 6, 2011- Night at the Museum of Rock and Roll
We will definitely come back again to Jubilations Dinner Theatre Calgary (Next to Westbrook Mall, Bow Trail and 37 St. SW - 403 249 7799).  They also have another location but it's in Edmonton.  I believe there's 1 more dinner theatre as far as I am aware here in Calgary that do Dinner Theatre or Dinner and Show, you probably heard of the Stage West.  We have not been there yet but I've heard it was good too but more expensive compared to Jubilations.

Well, have fun every one.  Go and bring your spouse to Jubilations Calgary, or to any Dinner Theatres in your own town or city and she/he will definitely enjoy.  Just for a tip, go get your tickets at Costco, I got the 2 tickets or 2 vouches for only $100 CAD.  So we saved about $20.  It's worth it ;)

Romantic Dinner Date at Capo Restaurant in Calgary, AB

We were looking to eat at a fancy restaurant in Calgary just to have some time alone.  Also at the same time, our criteria is that the restaurant must have great reviews, has a romantic atmosphere, and delicious food.

We decided to go to Capo Restaurant on January 19, 2010.   It's an Italian Restaurant in Calgary, AB at #4 1420 9 Avenue SE (403)264-2276.  We found it hard to locate the Capo at night.  It is a small place, very private, maybe only about 35 people can eat there, but we liked it there.  The restaurant is actually beautiful, classic yet has a modern style.  I like the music they have in the restaurant while we were eating, very relaxing.  The food were excellent although we considered the size of their servings as very small compared to other restaurants, Italian restaurants in Calgary, unless you're planning to go for diet.  The cost of the food for both myself and my husband is over $100.  It is a bit costly.  But try going to Capo Restaurant just to get a great experience especially if you are looking for a romantic place, romantic setting, and/or romantic dinner for your spouse.  Definitely try their desserts.  Oh we love them!

Over all, our reviews for Capo Restaurant, is excellent 4/5, I would probably suggest them to increase their servings to have the cost of their food worth our money.  I forgot to acknowledge the waiter that entertained us while we were there, friendly and informative.  Thanks.  We would definitely go back to Capo Restaurant in Calgary ;)
